The objects, scents, textures, and sounds in your bedroom influence intimacy.

If you want to make sure you don’t ruin your sex life, you might want to rethink the photos you put up, having your phone in the bedroom and neutral decor.

Cluttered Drawers
A messy environment has been shown to increase the level of the stress hormone cortisol. In your nightstand stock up with mints, lubricant and other items you might need to set the mood.

Neutral Decor
A lack of color could leave you feeling uninspired. Red has the capacity to ignite passion and it’s associated with sexually activity.  It can also boost energy, quicken the heart rate and intensify emotional responses.

Lack of Privacy
You could consider a lock on the door, but there are other ways to create a sense of privacy such as clever use of sound. Use a white noise machine to block out sounds or make a special music playlist.

Tech Interference
Even if you’re not looking at your phone its very presence in the bedroom can be a distraction, so keep your devices out of the bedroom completely.

Negative Memories
If you have a family photo in the bedroom for instance, but you're experiencing tension with a sibling or have had a falling out with a friend then you're bringing this negative energy into the bedroom. Even photos of your parents or children might be a bad idea.

Unpleasant Smells
Eliminate all negative smells such as overflowing laundry baskets, old shoes lurking under the bed and cupboards that need airing.  Replace the bad smells with ones that set the mood like peppermint, lavender, and liquorice.
