One student is dead and seven others are injured after two classmates opened fire at a charter school in Denver.

The two students opened fire in two separate classrooms at the public charter school with more than 1,850 students in kindergarten through 12th grade.

Cops were quick to the scene and  took the two suspects into custody without injuring them.

One 18-year-old student was killed and seven others injured.  Two of the injured are in serious condition, two are in stable condition, one is in good condition and three of the injured have been discharged.

UPDATE:

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office identified the 18-year-old alleged shooter as Devon Erickson.

Law enforcement officers were at a home believed to be linked to Erickson. Just before 10 p.m. a car spray painted with a message saying "F--- society" was towed from the home.

Erickson had said on social media that he hated Christians for their teaching on homosexuality and his accounts suggested suggested he was not a fan of President Trump.

He wrote on Facebook, “You know what I hate? All these Christians who hate gays, yet in the bible, it says in Deuteronomy 17:12-13, if someone doesn’t do what their priest tells them to do, they are supposed to die. It has plenty of crazy stuff like that. But all they get out of it is ‘ewwwwww gays."

In 2016, his account shared a video of Seth Meyers attacking President Trump, and in 2015, “he shared an Occupy Democrats post praising then President Barack Obama,” according to Heavy.

Multiple sources close to the investigation told Denver7 late Tuesday night that the second suspect, who is a minor, is a transgender male who was in the midst of transitioning from female to male.

The sources said that the motive of the alleged shooters went beyond bullying and involved revenge and anger towards others at the school and that at least one of the suspects was involved in legal and illegal drug use and had been in therapy.

Authorities recovered three handguns and a rifle but said the rifle was not used in the shooting. They are looking for more guns, one ranking source said.
