Naomi Osaka continues to be an outspoken advocate of the Black Lives Matter movement in professional tennis. This week at the US Open in New York, Naomi has been wearing black masks with the names of black people who have been killed by police.  Yesterday (Wednesday, September 2nd) Naomi had the name of Elijah McClain on her mask: Elijah McClain was killed after being detained by the Aurora (Colorado) Police over a year ago.  As of the writing of this article, no one has been charged with his death. Naomi Osaka is half Japanese and half Haitian. She is ranked the #10 woman in the world by the WTA.
