Netflix Drops Trailer For New Series About Selena

November 12, 2019

"Anything for Selena's!" Netflix is coming through clutch with a series that surrounds the life and tragic death of singer Selena Quintanilla, whose story was first told in the popular 1997 biopic, “Selena” starring Jennifer Lopez. In this version, Selena’s story is told in a limited series that is set in two parts, for a total of six episodes. Taking on the title role is “The Walking Dead” actress Christian Serratos in her first leading performance.

Selena’s sister Suzette Quintanilla serves as an executive producer on the series—that is said to chronicle Selena’s rise to stardom in a coming-of-age story examining the life-changing choices facing her and her family as she navigates fame and the music business.

In an official statement about the series, Suzette had this to say:

“Selena will always have a lasting place in music history, and we feel great responsibility to do justice to her memory. With this series, viewers will finally get the full history of Selena, our family, and the impact she has had on all of our lives. We are excited to partner with Campanario and Netflix to give fans a never-before-seen glimpse at our story and highlight why Selena will remain a legend for generations to come.”
