J Lo Gets Backlash After Her Motown Performance at The 61st Grammy's

February 11, 2019

The 61st Annual Grammy Award Show went down last night at the Staples Center in Los Angeles with all the big names in attendance. The night was filled with unforgettable performances from the most talented musicians in the world. But there was one performance that has since received a lot of controversy. During the award show there was a performance that was dedicated to honoring one of the greatest music labels in music ever, Motown. Motown paved the way in popular music with acts like The Supremes, The Temptations, & The Jackson 5 to name a few. When it was time, JLo hit the stage singing and performing her heart out to Motown Classics and put on a high energy performance with cameos from Ne-Yo and Alicia Keys. But when it was all said and done the social media backlash was almost instantaneous. Everbody and their mom went to social media with rants and complaints because they felt that a black performer should have been chosen for the Motown Tribute, being that is was a pre-dominately black music label that produced R&B & Soul Music. Some even took more offense to it being that February is Black History Month. J Lo herself did respond to the criticism and some black celebrities like Tyler Perry went to Twitter to defend her. Peep the videos and Twitter post's below. What are your thought's?
