Taraji P. Henson takes on a new talk show about mental health on Facebook Watch

'I’ve long been a mental health advocate for the Black community'

Taraji P. Henson is taking mental health discussions to a new level of acceptance on her new talk show style Facebook Watch series. Henson will co-host the new series with long-time friend and business partner, Tracie Jade Jenkins. 

Peace of Mind with Taraji, which is a working title, is set to go into production later this year. Alongside Jenkins, the Empire star and Hidden Figures lead will interview celebrities, experts, and everyday viewers about the importance of mental wellness and mental health care access, with a focus on mental health issues in the Black community.

In 2018, Taraji launched the Boris Lawrence Henson Foundation, where Jenkins serves as the executive director. Henson’s foundation serves to create mental health service opportunities for those struggling to gain access to services. In a recent statement about the importance of the new series, Taraji shared, “I’ve long been a mental health advocate for the Black community and created the Boris Lawrence Henson Foundation in 2018 that has provided resources to thousands of people who are struggling. I’m looking forward to bringing this new talk series to Facebook Watch, where I can continue to create conversation around an issue that is near and dear to my heart.”

While Facebook has not yet set a premiere date for the new series, we know that every episode of the series “will focus on a different mental health topic, with multiple content drops planned per week,” according to Variety

Mental health issues have always been important to Henson, as her own father struggled with his own mental health journey after serving during the Vietnam war. Henson’s organization is named after her father, Boris Lawrence Henson.
